A Choice to Make 6

Gokudera ran and ran after the figure. The woman was fast for someone who wasn't athletic. He finally came close and reached his hand out, grasping for her. His finger tips grazing the shoulder of her blazer. She paused and turned to look at him with curiosity. He loved the way her lips pursed at him and the slight arch of her eyebrows as she looked at him.
"Yes? What do you want?"
"I just wanted to talk."
"You had your chance last time. Why do you insist on talking to me?"
He could hear the tinge of annoyance in her voice when she addressed him.
"I want to close up loose ends."
The woman stared at him quietly and deep in thought.
"Very well. We can talk."
The two walked into a secluded cafe nearby and took their seats. There was a bit of silence before Gokudera started the conversation. He stirred the hot tea in front of him slowly.
"You know I still love you right?"
Gokudera watched as her face flashed with confusion at his statement before settling into a more serious one with slight irritation in her tone.
"How could anyone not know. What is your intent in saying this?"
"Just wanted to see how you would react." Gokudera said casually. He wanted to see if there was traces of what they once had still left.
"You know I'm about to be a married woman soon."
"In a month to be exact."
"Yes. In a month." She said as she empathized month. Gokudera was quickly losing hope as the conversation progressed. He decided to ask one last question that was biting at him.
"...Did you move up the wedding cause of me?"
"What? No. Why would I do that?" She looked at him with complete confusion. Gokudera looked at her and then it hit him. He hadn't realized it before but she was rubbing her stomach the entire time they were here. Hibari was acting fussy over her earlier too. He put two and two together as his eyes widened with realization.
"You're pregnant." There was an awkward silence between the two. The clinking of cups and low murmurs of the other customers echoed the background.
"...Yes. Didn't want to get to fat for my wedding dress..." She said with a slight chuckle as she stared down at her still slender stomach. Gokudera felt the rest of his heart tear up inside. He wanted to be the one she was going to marry. He wanted to be the one that made a family with her. He wanted to be the one she grew old with. He could feel his head spinning at the news.
"Congratulations." He mustered up.
"Thank you..."
Gokudera collected his inner turmoils and calmed himself.
"I'm sorry for all the trouble I may have caused you while I was here. But please keep in mind..."
"...yes?"
"If you ever need help or someone to talk too. I'm here...And always will be." With that he paid the bill and left. The woman stared at his retreating back quietly and fist clenched at her side.
